A Court of Thorns & Roses by Sarah J. Maas

Feyre's survival rests upon her ability to hunt and kill – the forest where she lives is a cold, bleak place in the long winter months. So when she spots a deer in the forest being pursued by a wolf, she cannot resist fighting it for the flesh. But to do so, she must kill the predator and killing something so precious comes at a price ...

Dragged to a magical kingdom for the murder of a faerie, Feyre discovers that her captor, his face obscured by a jewelled mask, is hiding far more than his piercing green eyes would suggest. Feyre's presence at the court is closely guarded, and as she begins to learn why, her feelings for him turn from hostility to passion and the faerie lands become an even more dangerous place. Feyre must fight to break an ancient curse, or she will lose him forever.

REVIEW: I loved everything about this book. It's almost got a hint of a beauty and beast retelling. From the captured girl that may be able to break the curse to the cursed house staff and court. The slow burn of Tamlin and Feyre thawing to each other and slowly breaking down each others walls is EVERYTHING. I have some major mixed feelings about Rhysand, which from what I gather will only continue to grow in the coming books. Lucien is one of my favorite characters and I hope his friendship with Feyre will only grow since they seem to be able to be honest with each other in a way they can't be to Tamlin. I'm a little wary of Nesta and her new found love and understanding for Feyre. The whole resisting the glamour thing also seems like it will be playing a major role in the books to come. I loved the wrap up to this book and that it didn't really end with a cliff hanger. It's naive to believe in any kind of happiness at this point though since there are already three more books in the series. This is a five-star read and I can't wait to catch up on the rest of this series.
