If you are a mom of middle grade readers, if you have children who like to be read to, or if you are just an adult who is a sucker for fairy tales; you need this book on your shelf immediately. Every moment of this story is fresh and modern, while still incorporating our favorite fairy tale characters. Our main character, Filomena, is an avid reader who just wants to get the next book in her favorite series after the last one ended in a major cliff hanger and then her world is turned upside down when.....it’s not available!!! We can all relate to that can’t we?? The adventure is just the right amount of intense for this book and the banter is quick and smart and just brilliant. All the fairy tales we know and love are turned on their heads in a way that is new and exciting. As the story unfolds we are getting the background and mystery unraveling in just the right amount of speed to keep you guessing just long enough before the answers are revealed. I can’t wait to share this book with my children because I know they will absolutely love it. This is a solid 5 star read and I can not wait to read the next book in this series to see what happens to Filomena and her merry band of Nevies.
