Kady, Ezra, Hanna, and Nik narrowly escaped with their lives from the attacks on Heimdall station and now find themselves crammed with 2,000 refugees on the container ship, Mao. With the jump station destroyed and their resources scarce, the only option is to return to Kerenza--but who knows what they'll find seven months after the invasion?
Meanwhile, Kady's cousin, Asha, survived the initial BeiTech assault and has joined Kerenza's ragtag underground resistance. When Rhys--an old flame from Asha's past--reappears on Kerenza, the two find themselves on opposite sides of the conflict. With time running out, a final battle will be waged on land and in space, heros will fall, and hearts will be broken.
From bestselling author duo Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff comes the exciting finale in the trilogy that broke the mold and has been called "stylistically mesmerizing" and "out-of-this-world-awesome."
REVIEW: What a ground shaking conclusion to this incredible sci-fi trilogy. I went into this trilogy with no expectation because I have never been a sci-fi fan but I leave it with a new top favorite series of all. There could be a few minor spoilers for the other two books in this review. In this book we add a new setting with Kerenza IV where BeiTech and hostile taken over because get this.....there were survivors!!! It was so sad to see that so many of these BeiTech soldiers didn't even agree with what they were doing but they still lost their lives fighting for the "cause", leaving behind families and loved ones. There was so much action in this book that my heart was beating a mile a minute on almost every page. There were so many great moments in this book and so many of them were not what they seemed. It was so great seeing all of our favorite characters from the first two books as well as the new additions. As always AIDEN steals the show with his no nonsense thinking and "sense of humor." As always if you can follow along with audio, DO IT!! With the full-cast and ambient music and sounds it make this heart-stopping book even better if that's even possible. This book was a 5 star addition to an overall 5 star series that is a must read for sci-fi and even those that are new to sci-fi!
And if that wasn't enough I found that there was a novella prequel called Memento. This tiny 50 page novella packs a HUGE punch!!! We essentially learn where everything went wrong and who is ultimately responsible when it comes to AIDEN and his questionable morality choices. This is only available in e-book and audio but if you are a fan of the original trilogy then run, don't walk, to grab this was too!
