Ready Player One by Ernest Cline

IN THE YEAR 2044, reality is an ugly place. The only time teenage Wade Watts really feels alive is when he's jacked into the virtual utopia known as the OASIS. Wade's devoted his life to studying the puzzles hidden within this world's digital confines, puzzles that are based on their creator's obsession with the pop culture of decades past and that promise massive power and fortune to whoever can unlock them.

But when Wade stumbles upon the first clue, he finds himself beset by players willing to kill to take this ultimate prize. The race is on, and if Wade's going to survive, he'll have to win—and confront the real world he's always been so desperate to escape.

REVIEW: If you are a gamer who loves all things 80s this book is for you. I am new to reading books within the sci-fi genre and decided to try this one because besides being an avid reader I am also an avid gamer. The concept of this book was very interesting and with the game makers total obsession with the 80s I was hooked pretty quickly with this book. There were so many great pop culture references. The characters are all really fantastic even considering that we are only getting game play avatars for the majority of the book. It gets really intense at times in both game play and reality and it was shocking to see how far people will go to win. This was a 4 out of 5 for me and I can not wait to not only watch the movie, but check out Ready Player Two.
