Blood & Honey by Shelby Mahurin

The stakes are higher. The witches are deadlier. And the romance is red-hot. The eagerly anticipated sequel to theNew York Times and Indiebound bestsellerSerpent & Dove is perfect for fans of Sarah J. Maas.

Lou, Reid, Coco, and Ansel are on the run from coven, kingdom, and church—fugitives with nowhere to hide.

To survive, they need allies. Strong ones. But as Lou becomes increasingly desperate to save those she loves, she turns to a darker side of magic that may cost Reid the one thing he can’t bear to lose. Bound to her always, his vows were clear: where Lou goes, he will go; and where she stays, he will stay.

Until death do they part.

REVIEW: "I'm impractical, improbable, but never impossible." Wow.....just WOW! From the get go this book delivers!! As they go through their journey, either split up or together, mischief, danger, and long hidden secrets are at every turn. With Ansel's increasing insecurities is himself and his lack of "abilities" we get a new side to him that is desperate and melancholy as he pines after Coco. Than there's Reids uncontrollable magic, which mixed with his inner battle with his learned opinions of what magic is and how it should be vanquished, that lends to some truly heartbreaking inner monologue from our strong copper haired Chasseur. There are some incredibly EPIC fight scenes that could challenge any adventure film in best fight scene. We meet some new characters that range from mysterious (Devaraux), to frightening (Blaise), to delishishly devilish (Nicholina). We learn that the king has sired at least 27 children and we even meet a couple of them. We see the return of Bas. There are some great one liners from Lou, some heart breaking moments from Reid, some very steamy scenes, and some real bravery from all the characters we meet. This book absolutely took my breath away, literally! I was holding my breath for most of the book, in between bouts of tears, and shock. I definitely give this book a rating of infinity and will be not-so patiently waiting for the next installment of this series!
