Meet Me in Paradise by Libby Hubscher (Once Upon a Bookclub April 2021)

Marin Cole has never:

Seen the ocean

Climbed a mountain

Taken a risk on love

....But if her sister's plan works, she just might do all three.

Ever since her journalist mother died on assignment, Marin has played it safe, refusing to set foot outside the state of Tennessee. Her wild-child younger sister, Sadie, has trotted the globe as a photographer, living off of art and adrenaline.

When Sadie returns from a tough assignment abroad and looks a little worse for wear, Marin reluctantly agrees to a sisters' spa weekend on the tropical island of Saba. But her lifelong fear of travel is affirmed when Sadie misses the flight, Marin's luggage gets mixed up with another passenger's, and an episode of turbulence sends her hurtling into the lap of Lucas Tsai, the handsome stranger who stole her sister's seat.

For the first time in a long time, Marin has to step outside of her comfort zone as she explores the island with Lucas and learns what she's been missing out on. With each breathtaking new experience, Marin gets closer to her real self, the man she's falling for, and the heart-wrenching truth about why she's there in the first place.

Book # 65 of 2021

REVIEW: I have been wanting to try out this book box forever and I am so glad that I finally did. Lets start out with the book. This book is by a debut author and probably not anything that would have even been on my radar and I would have totally missed out on the best book of the year so far. I don't typically read contemporary romance books. I've read a couple with some book clubs but lately I've been hooked on fantasy and fantasy smut...lol. This was such a breathe of fresh air. Sadie and Marin are two sisters who only have each other and while one is me, living a safe and controlled life, the other is who I want to be, free living and adventurous. Sadie talks Marin into a paradise girls trip and Marin learns to have fun and is beginning to find her self and her passion again. I really appreciate what a mess Marin is, in contrast with how "uptight" she lives her life. She has been so afraid to live her life and I think we can all relate to that sometimes. Sadie is such an enigmatic character!! You couldn't help but to either be in love with her or want to be just like her!! The love between Sadie and Marin is absolutely beautiful. This book was funny, witty, heartbreaking, and poignant and a must READ! I give it infinity stars and I have been inspired to start my own #projectparadise!

**BOOK & GIFT SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT!!**

Now onto the super fun part of the book box. THE GIFTS!!! The first gift was given on page 110. Lucas has taken Marin scuba diving for the first time and he pulls a mesh bag out and starts collecting shells. When you open gift 1 you find this adorable mesh produce bag that I will definitely use! I'm a reusable bag kind of gal.

The next gift is given on page 156. Lucas has taken Marin to Sabaoke and while she is terrified to sing he hands her the microphone and she rules the stage!! When you open gift number 2, low and behold, you find this super cool, super fun microphone speaker!! This will be hours of fun for me and the kids!!

Gift number 3 comes to us on page 245 and this one was a doozy. Felix is proposing to Sadie with a ring on the straw of her coconut and what to we find in our gift box? A retractable reusable straw inside of a "coconut water box" with a ring on the straw. This is where I lost it. This caused about 20 minutes of tears.....lol.

Our final gift comes to us on page 325. Lucas has just found Marin and showed her just one of the things he's been up to in the time they've been apart. She open the box and..."There in his palm was a perfect pearl, white and lustrous like bridal silk, but it was set in the middle of a simple golden disc hanging from a delicate chain." When we open our final gift, we find our very own Marin Cole original necklace.

This is by far the best book box I've ever gotten and something I will be subscribing to as long as I can afford it. These little gifts transport you right into the the scene and into the pages of the book and I can't wait to see what adventure they choose for us next!
