Bound as one to love, honor, or burn.
Two years ago, Louise le Blanc fled her coven and took shelter in the city of Cesarine, forsaking all magic and living off whatever she could steal. There, witches like Lou are hunted. They are feared. And they are burned.
Sworn to the Church as a Chasseur, Reid Diggory has lived his life by one principle: thou shalt not suffer a witch to live. His path was never meant to cross with Lou's, but a wicked stunt forces them into an impossible union—holy matrimony.
The war between witches and Church is an ancient one, and Lou's most dangerous enemies bring a fate worse than fire. Unable to ignore her growing feelings, yet powerless to change what she is, a choice must be made.
And love makes fools of us all.
REVIEW: It's hard to believe that this is a debut novel by this author. This books destroyed me in all the way a good book does. The banter between Lou and Reid is sarcastic and funny from the second they accidentally step into each others lives. In a time where women are thought of as property Lou has a spunk that is before her time. She's never afraid to speak her mind no matter who she is addressing. And she eats carbs like nobody's business. I woman after my own heart. Between Reid's naivety of the real world, and his chivalrous nature, the two of them make quite a pairing in this action packed story. The secondary characters are just as enchanting, no pun intended. Ansel, Coco, and even the Archbishop bring some delightful highs to the story, just when you think that all hope is lost. The levels of hope and love contrasted with the utter heart break throughout, make this book a big win in my book. As I was reduced to nothing more than a puddle of feelings, I know that this book will stay with me for a long time. This book is the first in the trilogy with part two,Blood & Honey, being released September 1st.
